Travel Guide to The Great Orme

Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Caernarfon, take the A487 towards Porthmadog. After about 20 miles, take the A55 towards Conwy. Continue on the A55 for approximately 10 miles, then take the exit for A470 towards Llandudno. Follow the A470 into Llandudno, and look for signs directing you to The Great Orme. You will enter the town, and then take the B5113 road that leads to The Great Orme. There is a parking area near the summit, but a parking fee may apply, usually around £3-£5 for a few hours.

• Public Transportation

  From Caernarfon, take the bus to Llandudno. The number 19 bus operated by Arriva runs regularly between Caernarfon and Llandudno. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Upon arriving at Llandudno, you can either take a local bus that runs to The Great Orme or walk to the base. The walk takes about 30 minutes from the bus stop at Llandudno's promenade. If you choose to walk, follow the signs towards The Great Orme, which is well marked.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a direct and convenient option, you can take a taxi from Caernarfon to The Great Orme. This will take about 30 minutes depending on traffic. The fare may range from £30-£50. Make sure to confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.

• Walking (from Llandudno)

  If you've arrived in Llandudno by public transport, you can enjoy a scenic walk to The Great Orme. Starting from the Llandudno promenade, head towards the West Shore and follow the coastal path that leads up to The Great Orme. It's a steep ascent, so be prepared for a good hike. This could take about 1 hour depending on your pace.
