Car
If you are driving from the main area of Solitude Mountain Resort, start by heading south on Solitude Ski Resort Road. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (UT-190). Turn right onto Big Cottonwood Canyon Road. Follow this road for approximately 3.5 miles until you see the trailhead parking area on your left. The Solitude Lake Trailhead is located just past the parking area. Please note that parking may require a day-use fee, so be prepared to pay if necessary.
Public Transportation
To reach the Solitude Lake Trailhead via public transportation, start at the Solitude Mountain Resort and look for the nearest bus stop for the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) ski bus service. Take the route that goes towards Brighton or the ski resorts along Big Cottonwood Canyon. You will need to get off at the stop near the Solitude Mountain Resort. From there, walk east along Solitude Ski Resort Road for about 0.5 miles, where you'll meet Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (UT-190). Turn right and continue walking for about 0.2 miles until you reach the trailhead parking area. Be sure to check the UTA website for the latest schedules and fares.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of Solitude Mountain Resort, you can reach the Solitude Lake Trailhead by walking. Begin from the main lodge area, and head south on Solitude Ski Resort Road. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you come to the intersection with Big Cottonwood Canyon Road (UT-190). Cross safely at the intersection, turn right on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, and walk for another 0.2 miles. The trailhead parking area will be on your left. This walk is approximately 1 mile one way and is a pleasant way to start your hiking adventure.
