Travel Guide to Camel's Hump Forest Reserve

Getting There

• Car

  From the main parking areas in Camel's Hump State Park, head southeast on Camel’s Hump Road. Follow the road until you reach the intersection with VT-100. Turn left onto VT-100 North and continue for approximately 4.5 miles. Then, turn right onto Huntington Road, which will lead you into the town of Huntington. Continue straight until you see signs for Camel's Hump Forest Reserve, located on the left. The entrance is approximately 1 mile down Huntington Road.

• Public Transportation

  To access Camel's Hump Forest Reserve via public transportation, take a bus to the nearest stop in Huntington. From there, it is advisable to use a rideshare service or taxi to cover the remaining distance to the reserve, as public transit options may be limited. Ensure to check local bus schedules for the most current routes and times, as these can vary. Expect to pay for the bus fare and rideshare costs, which may vary depending on the distance and time of day.

• Biking

  If you are biking from Camel's Hump State Park, exit the park onto Camel’s Hump Road, then turn left onto VT-100 North. Follow this for about 4.5 miles, then take a right onto Huntington Road. The forest reserve is about 1 mile down Huntington Road on the left. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all biking regulations, as the roads can be busy.

• Walking

  Walking from Camel's Hump State Park to Camel's Hump Forest Reserve is not recommended due to the distance and road conditions. However, if you choose to walk, exit the park onto Camel’s Hump Road, proceed to VT-100 North, and then to Huntington Road. The walk is approximately 6 miles and could take over two hours, so prepare accordingly with water and snacks.
