Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Newport, VT. Head southeast on VT-105 E for about 23 miles until you reach the junction with VT-100 S. Turn right onto VT-100 S and continue for approximately 15 miles until you reach VT-9 E. Turn left onto VT-9 E and follow this road for about 20 miles. Once you reach Wilmington, follow signs to Haystack Mountain, which is located nearby. There is no parking fee, but be sure to check local signage for any updates on parking regulations.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Haystack Mountain via public transportation, you can take the Green Mountain Transit bus service that operates from various locations in the Northeast Kingdom. Check their schedule for the nearest bus stop and routes leading to Wilmington. Once you arrive in Wilmington, you may need to use a taxi or rideshare service to get to Haystack Mountain, as public transport may not go directly to the mountain. There are no bike rental services directly at the mountain, so plan accordingly.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you are already nearby and feeling adventurous, you can hike to Haystack Mountain. There are designated trails starting from Wilmington.
