If you're driving to the Appalachian Trail at Whitetop from any point within Grayson Highlands State Park, head southeast on VA-58 E. Continue along VA-58 E for approximately 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Elk Garden Trail. Turn left onto Elk Garden Trail and follow it for about 1.5 miles. You will see a parking area for the Appalachian Trail on your right. Please note that parking may require a fee, so be prepared with cash or a credit card.

From Abingdon, you will need to arrange for a taxi or ride-sharing service to take you to Grayson Highlands State Park.
