Getting There

• Bus

  From downtown Suffolk, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus route 45 towards Norfolk. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop at 30th Street and Granby Street. From there, walk north on Granby Street for about 0.5 miles, then turn left onto Brooke Avenue. The Lone Sailor Statue will be on your right at 235 Brooke Ave.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to bike, rent a bicycle from a local bike-sharing service in Suffolk. Start by heading east on Main Street. Continue straight as Main Street turns into Old Bridge Road. After about 3 miles, follow the signs to the Elizabeth River Trail. This scenic route will take you along the water and into Norfolk. Once you reach the city, follow the trail towards downtown Norfolk. When you arrive at the intersection of 30th Street and Granby Street, turn left and continue to Brooke Avenue. The statue will be on your right at 235 Brooke Ave.

• Walking

  If you’re up for a walk, start at the Suffolk Visitor Center located at 524 North Main Street. Head south on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and continue walking until you reach the intersection with East Washington Street. Turn right and continue straight. After about 2.5 miles, you will arrive at the Nansemond River. From there, follow the riverfront towards Norfolk, crossing the bridge. Once in Norfolk, make your way to Granby Street, turn left, and walk until you reach Brooke Avenue. The Lone Sailor Statue will be at 235 Brooke Ave, on your right.
