Public Bus
Take the Greenbrier Valley Public Transit bus from downtown Lewisburg. You can catch the bus at the Lewisburg Public Library bus stop. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the times as they may vary. Ride the bus towards White Sulphur Springs and get off at the stop near the intersection of US-220 and VA-39. From there, it’s about a 20-minute walk to George Washington & Jefferson National Forest. Head northeast on US-220, then turn left onto VA-39 E. Follow the road until you see the entrance to the forest on your right.

Bicycle Rental
Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Lewisburg. Once you have your bike, head east on Washington Street towards the Greenbrier River Trail. Follow the trail north, which will eventually lead you toward Millboro. The ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. The trail will take you through scenic views. Keep an eye out for signs directing you toward George Washington & Jefferson National Forest as you approach Millboro.

Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk to George Washington & Jefferson National Forest, start at the Lewisburg Town Square. Head south on Washington Street until you reach US-219. Turn right on US-219 and continue walking for about 6 miles. It will take roughly 2 hours to walk this distance. Once you reach the intersection with VA-39, turn left and continue for a short distance. You will see the entrance to the forest on your right.
