Car
From anywhere in Northwoods, head towards State Highway 42. If you're in a town like Sturgeon Bay or Fish Creek, follow the signs to reach Highway 42. Once you reach Highway 42, continue north until you reach County Road NP. Turn onto County Road NP and follow it for about 2 miles. Newport State Park will be on your left at 475 County Rd NP, Ellison Bay, WI 54210. There is no entrance fee for the park, but be prepared for potential parking fees during peak seasons.
Public Transportation
If you're relying on public transportation, take a bus from your location to Sturgeon Bay, where you can find the nearest bus terminal. From Sturgeon Bay, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Newport State Park, as public transportation options do not go directly there. The distance from Sturgeon Bay to Newport State Park is approximately 22 miles, and taxi fares can range from $40 to $60 depending on traffic and time of day.
Bike
For the more adventurous, consider biking to Newport State Park. If you're starting in towns like Fish Creek or Ephraim, you can use local bike paths that lead north towards Highway 42. Once you reach Highway 42, be cautious as there isn't a dedicated bike lane. Continue until you reach County Road NP, which you will take directly to the park entrance. Ensure your bike is equipped for varying terrain, and check local bike rental shops if you need to rent a bike.
