What to expect
Old Town Scottsdale
Take one look at Old Town Scottsdale and it’s easy to see what makes the vibrant heart of our city so original. Nestled within nine walkable neighborhoods you’ll find a unique collection of shops, restaurants, art galleries and nightclubs, as well as contemporary public art installations, world-class museums and historic sites from the late 1880s. It’s this effortless blend of urban chic and Old West charm that gives our city’s downtown its one-of- a-kind flair and makes it a can’t-miss stop on any Scottsdale itinerary!
Old Adobe Mission
The Old Adobe Mission was built by hand by the Mexicans who first settled in Scottsdale in the late 1910s. Completed in 1933, today it stands as a historic monument, as one of only three remaining adobe structures in downtown Scottsdale. Designed by Robert T. Evans it features beautiful Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and handcrafted stained-glass windows. For all who visit it provides a one-of-a-kind setting for historical reflection and spiritual solitude.
Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West
This highly rated TripAdvisor attraction located in Old Town Scottsdale features regularly changing and ongoing exhibits of Western and Native American art, rare artifacts and cultural treasures on loan from some of the world’s foremost collectors and institutions. A Smithsonian Affiliate since 2015, the museum has been, once again, named “Best Western Museum 2021” in the nation (True West magazine).
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art
Located in Scottsdale's popular Old Town district, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) features the most compelling modern and contemporary art, architecture and design from around the globe. Designed by award-winning architect Will Bruder, SMoCA's minimalist building (an ingenious renovation of a former movie theater) includes a public "skyspace" by the acclaimed artist James Turrell (one of only a handful in the world), where visitors can experience the ever-changing light of the desert sky. SMoCA also presents a wide variety of changing exhibitions, educational programs, docent-led tours and special events for adults and families.
