    The tour guide did not show up. I received a reminder from Viator the day before my tour to show up at the meeting point at 11 am. At 11 am on the appointed day I find myself at the meeting point on a street in an unfamiliar part of the city. After waiting there for 30 minutes (10:30 am to 11:00 am), I unsuccessfully tried to reach my tour guide. Around 11:10 am I reached out to Viator and was told that they could not reach my tour guide. At this point half of my day was wasted. I then tried to find the museum on my own only to discover that it was closed for reconstruction. Considering that I booked this tour 1 month earlier my expectation was for someone to inform me that it was no longer available. At the present time I am waiting on a refund from Viator. Interesting, knowing what happened that still informed me that they would have to investigate the issue before they could process my refund.

The museum pieces together a story that was totally invisible at the time of the centenary of the CIvil War in the early 1960s. This is an informative museum that starts with a brief background of Africans becoming enslaved and then African Americans military involvement in the civil war all the way to World War ll with a concentration on the civil war, it is very informative, and tells the story that many people never get to hear. You will stop by the African American Civil war memorial and surrounding the monument there are silver plaques dedicated to African Americans that fought in the war.
