    This was a highlight of our time in Asheville! The guide who shuttled us up the river was very friendly and obviously loved his job. It was a relaxing a fun paddle down the river with a near view of the Biltmore Estate.

    It was an absolutely wonderful 7 mile guided SUP tour with Grant. I'm relatively new to paddle boarding, his experience and encouragement made this an amazing experience. Adding to that, his knowledge of the river and area made this a great day tour. I would highly recommend Wai Mauna for a great, hassle free, enjoyable experience and want to thank Grant again!

    Fantastic experience! Kyle was super flexible with our last-minute booking and went the extra mile to make our excursion a wonderful time. He is super knowledgeable about rivers/lakes across the US and brings a fun, vacation vibe to every interaction. Highly recommend this company!

    We did the 7 mile private tour. This was a spontaneous activity, but ended up being the best part of our trip to Asheville. Our guide, Tim, was great! We received free photos, and all service is included in the price.

    My husband and I (“young” 50s) loved our 7-mile trip down the French Broad River. Jackson is a great guide. He explained everything well and was fun to hang out with. He is a patient and supportive guide. It was the perfect amount of adventure and relaxation. My husband loves whitewater rafting but I wanted something more relaxing. We both had a great time.

    What to expect

    Meet your guide at Asheville Outdoor Center in West Asheville (521 Amboy Road), where you'll park and then ride in an air-conditioned shuttle to the starting point at Bent Creek. Then you will look for the minivan with paddleboards on top that's parked in the far corner of the grass parking lot. Here you'll be fitted with a life jacket and paddle, and receive a lesson on the basics of SUP before setting off along the water.  Also on our journey keep an eye out for native wildlife such as turtles, herons, otters, beavers, deer, ducks, and black bears, and hear stories of Asheville's past from your friendly local guide. If you're up for it, your guide can also teach you some tricks and proper racing technique. Your 2.5-hour paddle finishes back at Asheville Outdoor Center, just a 3-minute drive from restaurants and breweries on Haywood Road in West Asheville. *The Biltmore Estate is private property and no paddling to shore is allowed.  *$5 from every paddler is directly donated to RiverLink—a nonprofit organization working to restore the local watershed.
