Nestled up the mountain from Loutro, Bakery Orfanoudakis feels like stepping into a peaceful haven. The manager greets you warmly and offers freshly baked biscuits and traditional Sfakianes pites with honey, both delicious treats that speak of local flavors. As we indulge in these delights, we'll also enjoy an energizing local breakfast to fuel us for the rest of our journey.

The deepest gorge in Chania prefecture is the gorge of Aradena. The 138-meter-deep gorge is ideal not only for sightseeing or hiking but also for bungee jumping. Trekking inside the canyon to the majestic Marmara beach is an unforgettable experience for those who attempt the descent. Aradena is one of the most interesting and longest gorges (15 km) in the region. The old Sfakians called it Faragas (Huge gorge) due to its size, distinguishing it from the other gorges of Sfakia. This characterization was later mistakenly applied to the Samaria Gorge. The gorge actually starts from the root of the peak Thodoris of the White Mountains, specifically from the underground stream of cave Drakolakki. However, most people think it is only 7 km long because the easiest access is from Aradena village, located at the middle of the gorge. For your safety and peace of mind, a hike guide is included to ensure a protected and enjoyable experience.
