It was everything as described and more! We got to learn all about fishing for king crabs and the stories of many different fishermen.
Seeing all of the different crabs and fish and being able to hold them was so cool. The bald eagle part may have been my favorite. My son loved the experience.

Loved it! Super interesting to hear their life stories and listen to them talk. More than 3 hour tour that felt like 1h as time flew by! Definitely worth doing if going to Ketchikan. Would do it again today if I could!

You don't need to be a Deadliest catch fan to appreciate how hard working on a crab boat is. Just listening to their stories and being up front and close to the action watching what it takes to pull crab pots makes you understand. The whole crew was amazing - it really is an interactive experience. You are able to explore the boat and touch and hold different sea life. Highly recommend this tour!

If I could give this 6 or 7 stars I would. I am a Deadliest Catch fan but honestly it's been so long since this boat was on the show I had forgotten all about it. Even for someone who is not a fan of the show this is a GREAT excursion to go on. The guys are all so nice (even Big D) and they're so good at engaging with the passengers. Their stories are all pretty interesting, and they do a really good job of teaching you about the sea life that fisherman fish for and how they do it. They also do a really good job of honoring and thanking the natives that allow this tour to happen which I thought was very nice.
The highlight for me was seeing the Eagles flying over the boat. They are HUGE. I mean I've seen Bald Eagles before but these ones were gigantic and they're almost close enough you could touch them. Loved it. We were also fortunate enough to catch Orcas on the way back to the ship and that was just the cherry on the sundae. The gift shop has a bunch of neat stuff and I thought the crab that they offered in the galley was extremely reasonably priced, especially since you don't have to shell it yourself. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. I am so glad I found this excursion, it is so worth every penny and I will cherish the memories.

Once on board we will cast off and head towards the sovereign waters of Annette Bay, Alaska.

Minimum age is 5 years, no exceptions due to coast guard regulations.

You MUST BE ON BOARD THE ALEUTIAN BALLAD for check in 15 minutes before your departure time.

If you are concerned about seasickness, please note that this tour stays in the calm, protected waters of the Inside Passage and does not go out into the open ocean; large waves and rough seas will not be encountered. You WILL NOT be in the Bering Sea.

Please note: additional transportation is not required, as it is a short, easy walk to get to the fishing boat from any downtown Ketchikan hotel or cruise ship.

Guests arriving at Ward Cove need to meet an hour early to get into town. We will provide bus transportation for you but it is very important you know to meet AN HOUR EARLY to account for travel time into Ketchikan.
