You might not be able to tell at first glance, but a lot of that house is built from trash. Seriously! It was built by an eccentric artist named Arthur Harold Beal who had an odd fascination with garbage. He actually worked as a garbage collector in the mid-1900s and used some of what he collected to build his home. There are beer cans, car rims, washer drums, you name it, built into the structure of the house. **

Enjoyed listening to background as we approached each stop. Breath taking views! Was a bit confused setting things up but worked it out. Definitely recommend!

The tour and the technology worked flawlessly. I did download it using WiFi as it didn’t like using 5G. I don’t know if that was my phone, data provider or this app that wouldn’t allow that. No matter as once it was downloaded it was all great. We used both the north and south recordings as the Big Sur is closed so we drove down from Monterey to Nepanthe and then north to Elephant seal vista. I just used “Resume from Current location” and the app just figured itself out. I would recommend this app if you are driving down the Big Sur. It will be better when the road reopens, but that is not the Apps fault.

rhondal2013

Fantastic tour!! We loved it. The stories, the info, the ease and the ability to drive on our own. So clear, and easy to follow. We enjoyed 2 tours.

Jill_W

It didn't work! When we got it to play, it kept stopping. I would not recommend it. It was a waste of money. I am very disappointed!

Far_Horizons

Easy to follow. But the app is very unreliable with providing audio in the car via Android auto. Needed to be restarted multiple times.

Catherine_M

The tour narration was great! Our only issue was finding the tour start point. Very confusing. We later realized we didn’t need to start at the beginning. Was still confusing! Once we were on it was excellent! We ate at Nepenthe, expensive, but we’ll worth it!

I’m so glad I came across this self-guided tour on TripAdvisor. I was heavily browsing for a budget friendly, cost-effective option to help continue a 3 day birthday celebration for my girlfriend in Carmel, and Action Tour Guide was exactly what I was looking for. This affordable, one-time purchase app was amazing. I’ve never done a self-guided tour before and I can safely say this made for a pleasant first time experience. The sights alone are obviously gorgeous, but the back to back fun facts and historical backgrounds of each stop only made it even more memorable and exciting. The app is easy to use and helps elevate drives like PCH, especially for those who are doing it for the first time. Looking forward to using this very thoughtful app again and would definitely recommend it. My girlfriend and I had such an amazing time!

ewepp

Your worked well. We were unable to do the full tour due to a road closure but had a long enough day. The narrator was upbeat and brought up highlights to stop for photo oops & hiking plus the perfect restaurant and view for lunch! It was a gorgeous morning but on the way back by late aft the fog had rolled in and the views were nil. So glad we got away when we did!

Sam_C

Did not work at all and cost me $15. Extremely awkward app. Don’t waste your money. Not worth taking about.

PVTexas

Perhaps it is my fault for not reading the details more carefully. There are many attractions noted along the way and I thought the app would navigate to these it does not. Specifically 17-mile drive is noted but if you want the details of the drive it’s another $15. The app is fine for the price but I was expecting more.
