Galleria Borghese
The history of the gallery begins with the powerful Cardinal Scipione, a great art lover and a patron of famous painter Caravaggio. With the cardinal’s efforts the impressive collection of the palace acquired more masterpieces, including paintings by the greatest Italian artist such as Titian, Raphael, Caravaggio, Rubens, Botticelli and others. Worthy of special mention is a world-famous marble sculpture by Bernini, which depicts the story of Apollo and Daphne.
