Place des Quinconces

The square is made up of an esplanade gently sloping towards the Garonne and framed by planted walks. There are the monumental statues of Montaigne and Montesquieu by sculptor Dominique Fortuné Maggesi in white marble which were placed there in 1858.

Pont d'Aquitaine

The Aquitaine Bridge is a suspension bridge located on the Bordeaux ring road, in the Gironde department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It connects the towns of Lormont and Bordeaux over the Garonne. The bridge was completed in 1967 and has a span of 394 m for a length of 1,767 m. It is the last bridge over the Garonne before its estuary, the Gironde, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Porte Cailhau

The original gate was located in the 14th century rampart. It was replaced by the current monument, built closer to the Garonne.
