Went to Portugal (Lisbon/Algarve) for 10 nights in June 2024. We stayed 5 of nights in Lisbon and booked the Undiscovered Lisbon Food and Wine Tour with Eating Europe. It was amazing! When I travel, I want to immerse myself in the culture as much as possible. Eat, drink, and socialize with the locals as much as possible. Our guide - Gabi - was awesome. He was incredibly knowledgeable on the history, food, and culture of Portugal, but also kept the time between stops really interesting and funny. The stops along the way were all amazing and a fantastic "Cliff's Notes" view into Lisbon's food culture. We Bifanas and "Fireman Chorizo" at a classic Lisbon tasca - Ginjinha Popular; Chicken and Beef Samosas at Catinho do Aziz; Octopus salad and Bacalhau (Codfish) w/baked potatoes/vegetables at Tasquinha Canto do Fado and finished it off with AMAZING fresh/warm Pasteis de Nata at Manteigaria. We didn't just eat though...lol...we drank Ginjinha (traditional Portuguese cherry liqeuer) at Ginjinha Sem Rival; and sampled Red, White, and GREEN wine at Tasquinha Canto do Fado. The stops between stops were every bit as informative and interesting as the food/drink stops as Gabi would explain the history and culture of the Portuguese neighborhoods, architecture, and how the various ancestry of Portugal has come together in a unique blending of cultures that separates Portugal from the rest of the world. I would jump at the chance to take any tour by Eating Europe - especially if Gabi is your guide. Truly one of the best experiences I've had in my travels.

Cate was a great guide sharing interesting stories and giving insight into the family run restaurants we visited. All the restaurants and places visited are multigenerational family run businesses visited mostly by locals. The food and drinks were delicious and a great snapshot of what Lisbon has to offer. I did this tour on my first day in Lisbon which was great to get an idea of places to go and look out for on the rest of my trip. It was good for someone traveling on your own as everyone in the group was friendly and bonded over sharing meals. I also did the last tour of the day which meant all the meals are the tour was my dinner sorted.

Please, if you are visiting Lisbon for the first time, then book this tour for your first day! One of the best tours we have done out of many across the globe. Our guide Gabriel gave a fantastic tour with just the right mix of local insight, architecture, `Lisbon life, humour and of course the food and wine. A most excellent tour.

This tour was great, with Catarina, our guide, making every effort to introduce us to those places we would not normally find as a tourist. We tried traditional Portuguese food, such as bifanas and of course pasteis del nata but also tried foods influenced by other cultures. The wines paired with each course were delicious and clearly very well chosen. It really was a great tour and I would recommend to anyone who visits Lisbon.
