What to expect
Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center
Designed by architect I. M. Pei and acoustician Russell Johnson. The building's acoustics were the first in the world to be designed by computer applications; it is considered a 100% acoustically-perfect building. The exterior includes 22,000 pieces of Indiana limestone, 33,000 feet of Italian travertine and 211 glass panels, no two alike. Interior features include the Lay Family 4,535 pipe-organ; reverberation chamber doors and an adjustable canopy weighing 46,000 pounds.
Winspear Opera House
See the design features of this performance hall that reflects Norman Foster's return to contemporary Modernism; solar panel louvers eliminating most direct sunlight on the the facade and creating a microclimate around the building reducing the energy requirements of the Winspear Opera House. Find out where and why the heating and air-conditioning units are located; and, the glass facade that wraps around the building creating a transparency between the Opera House and the Dallas city skyline.
Wyly Theater At AT&T Performing Arts Center
Winner of the 2017 Tony for the "Best Regional Theater"! Designed by Joshua Prince-Ramus and Pritzker Prize winning architect Rem Koolhaas. It features a groundbreaking design with an unprecedented "stacked" vertically organized facility that completely rethinks the traditional form of theater.
Nasher Sculpture Center
Now housed in what was considered at one time as the most valuable collection of sculpture in private hands. The Renzo Piano-designed museum is considered by many critics as the jewel of the Dallas Arts District. Piano working in collaboration with landscape architect Peter Walker in developing the 2-acre garden featuring the works of Henry Moore.
