What to expect
Teniersplaats
The Teniersplaats, together with De Keyserlei, Leysstraat, Meir, Groenplaats, and Suikerrui, is part of the route to the Congoboot, a traffic axis between Central Station and the Quays. Beneath Teniersplaats is the Opera metro station, named after the Flemish Opera, which is within walking distance of Teniersplaats.
The Rubenshuis has been a museum since 1946. Since then, the staff has been striving every day to showcase Rubens in all his versatility to as large an audience as possible.
Handelsbeurs Antwerpen
The Handelsbeurs in the Belgian city of Antwerp is located in Twaalfmaandenstraat, a small side street off Meir. From 1531 to 1997, this was the site of the Antwerp stock exchange, "the mother of all exchanges." This building should not be confused with the Oude Beurs on Hofstraat.
Hendrik Conscienceplein
The square has been named after the 19th-century Flemish writer Hendrik Conscience since 1883, with a statue of him on the square. Prior to that, it was known as Jezuïetenplein.
Oude Beurs
In Antwerp's Hofstraat, near the Grote Markt, lies House Den Rhyn. At first glance, the 19th-century facades along the street wouldn't suggest the charming, 16th-century interior of the building.
Museum Vleeshuis
Museum Vleeshuis in Antwerp is a monumental former guild house located on Vleeshouwerstraat between Drie Hespenstraat and Repenstraat. The building dates back to the early sixteenth century. Since 1913, it has been a museum of Antwerp antiquities, dedicated since 2006 to 800 years of music life in Antwerp and the Low Countries.
Het Steen is part of a former ring wall fortification on the right bank of the Scheldt. Since 2021, the building has been a tourist information center for the city of Antwerp.
DIVA, museum voor diamant, juwelen en zilver
The Diamond Museum of the province of Antwerp is a museum in the center of Antwerp. Between 1972 and 2012, the museum, at three locations, chronicled forty years of the past and present of the diamond industry and trade in the Antwerp region. The museum has been reopened since March 24, 2023.
This is the main church of the Diocese of Antwerp and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The church was a cathedral between 1559 and 1803 and again from 1961 to the present. The tower of the Cathedral of Our Lady is part of a group of 56 belfries in Belgium and France listed as UNESCO World Heritage.
Brabo's Monument
On the fountain is a bronze statue of Silvius Brabo by the sculptor Jef Lambeaux, dating from 1887. The Brabofontein is located in front of Antwerp City Hall on the Grote Markt. The fountain was financed with the legacy of August Nottebohm, uncle of Oscar Nottebohm.
