    I was dreaming of visiting Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal. But, I have been disappointed. I found the city dead, frozen in time, empty...and geared towards tourism., with lots of shops selling traditional products like pastries (ovos molos), port wine, porcelain, cork, etc. We did the little cruise on a moliceiro, to complete the experience, and a visit to Praia da Costa Nova . The canals were rather limited in size and length and did not have much in common with those of Venice or even Brugge.... However, the excursion was very well organized, the bus was comfortable, the guides, Isabel on the bus and Rui on the moliceiro, tried their best to entertain us all in various languages.

    Disappointing trip. Too much time In Costa Nova. Guide should have told us to walk to the ocean side. How many striped houses does one need to see for thirty minutes??? Vito was wonderful and beautiful, but only 45 minutes to walk around. Sad. Guide never told us where the bathrooms were. That’s an issue for a four hour trip. Maybe it was an off day for her.

    What we enjoyed the most was the Aveiro canals. The boats were comfortable and our guide, Alex, was very knowledgeable. He entertained us as well as informed us with history and current information. The 1 hour ride was easy and our guide, Pedro, gave us some pertinent information about our destination. We have already recommended this tour to other hotel guests.

    Fun, informational, easy travel. Arnesto was great. Costra nova was just a quick stop for pictures, which was fine. Got to see more of Aveiro. Lovely half day trip.

    This was a pleasant day out to Aveiro, the Moliceiro Cruise was reasonably informative and the seafront houses were picturesque. But it was a long way to travel for such a short experience.
