La Maison Carree

A true masterpiece of Gallo-Roman architecture, the Maison Carrée is today the only ancient temple in the world to be perfectly preserved.

Jardins de la Fontaine

The garden was laid out in accordance with the classical layout around the Nemausus spring, spreading forth a supply of water that feeds pools and the canal. In the Gallo-Roman period, this area was the site of the baths, theatre and the temple of Diana which with its surrounding greenery makes for a romantic backdrop.

Arenes de Nimes

The Roman amphitheatre (or arena) in Nîmes is the best-conserved of the Roman world. The monument was turned into a fortress in the Middle Ages, forming a refuge for the population in case of danger. The inner part was later filled by private houses until the nineteenth century. In 1809, houses, chapels and the chateau of the viscounts of Nîmes were demolished to give the monument its initial appearance. Today, the amphitheatre forms a fine venue for many occasions—bullfights, congresses, concerts and sports events.

Uzes

Uzès is listed as a 'City of Arts and History'. You will discover its great many riches as you wander the streets of Uzès with its major Roman remains. Of course there is the famous Roman aqueduct of 50 km which carried the water to Nîmes.

The unexpected is the best part of tours like this. We were wanting to see Pont du Gard but Uzes was a pleasant surprise. What a beautiful town and with such an excellent guide the 45min walking tour was a delight.

Our tour guide was very knowledgable, friendly, and had a cheerful, pleasant personality. I was amazed to see all the different things made by the Romans and still exist and are functional. I highly recommend this tour.

Gordana was a wonderful guide. She was genuinely excited to show us the beautiful village of Uzès We had a great morning full of interesting facts and information. Gordana also recommended many great restaurants for us to visit during our stay and her recommendations were brilliant. Thanks Gordana for a great day!

We had such a great guide, that had heaps of information! Even when we asked questions, she had a well formed answer. She was extremely kind, positive and pleasant. It was great to get the info in the van and then be free to explore the sites.

Our guide, Gordana, made this tour very special. She had a lot of information about everything and made the whole trip interesting for us. All the visited sights - the Temple of Diana and the Arena in Nîmes, the town of Uzes, the aqueduct bridge Pont du Gard - were great, we couldn't stop taking photos.

We requested on March 22 for the tour on March 25 and received a "pending" email; On March 23, the tour operator asked if we could do the tour on the 24th, which we replied No as we were en route that day. On March 24, the tour operator told us they would not do our tour. For them to cancel the day before the tour puts us in a last-minute scramble for our one day in Avignon. I suppose good for them, bad for us. Business as usual, beware!
