Garden District

Explore the Garden District, one of the world’s most dazzling residential neighborhoods, with knowledgeable and entertaining guides. Experience the architectural splendor of the live oak-tree lined “American” section of town and examine the antebellum era “Creole vs. American” conflict. Witness history and culture reflected in architectural styles including Greek Revival, Italianate, Second Empire, Gothic, Georgian, Swiss Chalet, Queen Anne, and more. Highlights include the former or current homes of Archie, Peyton, & Eli Manning: Anne Rice, Nicolas Cage, Sandra Bullock, Trent Reznor, and John Goodman; the cornstalk fence, the death site of Jefferson Davis, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button film site, “Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies” from AMERICAN HORROR STORY, and more! [The City temporarily closed Lafayette Cemetery - tour from outside.] The Garden District Tour emphasizes history, architectural style, personal anecdotes, & tropical plant life.

Lafayette Cemetery No.1

See the famed above-ground tombs of Lafayette Cemetery #1, including “Interview with the Vampire,” “Double Jeopardy,” and “Deja Vu” film sites, and the Jefferson Fire Company No. 22 society tomb, situated across from the fictitious Mayfair family tomb featured in Anne Rice’s “The Witching Hour.” [The City of New Orleans has temporarily closed Lafayette Cemetery for repairs but we still do the cemetery tour from the gates.]

Orion was the best tour guide!! He was incredibly informative, approachable, and quirky in all the right ways. This man needs to write a book - he is so passionate about New Orleans history and landmarks and his passion was contagious- highly recommend! Also he brings cool fans and other trinkets to help make the walk more comfortable

Dave Roberts was our guide and he was very friendly and informative. He made sure to find a shady spot for the group at each stop. I would highly recommend this guided tour

Muriel was so knowledgeable and prepared! The Garden district is gorgeous and although we could not go into the cemetery, we could easily view the tombs and its beauty from the gate while Muriel had fantastic information and photos to help explain the burial process. All the landmarks we visited were fascinating. I enjoyed learning the different architectural styles and history of the homes. If you’re lucky enough to go while the confederate jasmine is blooming you’re in for a treat, it smells heavenly!

Nice walking tour of Garden District mansions and historical background. David told many stories of the people who have lived there.

Seriously horrible!! The cemetery was not accessible. It’s been locked since 2019. So this tour was all about the houses near the cemetery. I did not want to go on this tour for any reason except the cemetery!

David_K

We were unable to go into the cemetery. Tour was called cemetery tour. Deceiving Title on the webpage . Wasn’t what we expected.

Sally_S

The cemetery with its history was the best part, but it was the shortest. We did not know that the cemetery was closed indefinitely so it was disappointing that we could only see it through the gates. I would have liked more time in the cemetery. The garden tour was too long. The homes were beautiful but I the whole tour could have been completed in one hour instead of two.

Histories of the homes were fascinating also the history of the region. David was an excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable.

We had an informative, super-entertaining tour with the fabulous Randy Bibb, who told it like it is, debunking many NOLA myths and filling in with perhaps less titillating but equally fascinating facts. Highly recommend.

Of the 3 things we booked for our trip to New Orleans, this was the best and the least expensive plus it was the longest in duration. Dave our tour guide gave us the most interesting facts and details of all the houses we walked by in the Garden District. Being a native of New Orleans, his knowledge was vast. We were also intrigued by the information he gave us about the tombs and above-ground burial practices at Lafayette Cemetery #1.
