What to expect
Jamestown Settlement
Kayak from James City County Marina on calm water, Powhatan Creek and Back River, to Jamestown Island, known as the birthplace of America with the first successful English settlement in America dating back to 1607. Powhatan Creek and Back River are stunning with lush marsh grasses, bald eagles soaring above and spectacular cypress trees. You can get a feel for what the land looked like when this area was first settled in 1607 by the Virginia Company. The tour makes two stops behind Jamestown Island to discuss and admire the fauna and flora as well as discuss the history of the Jamestown Settlement, archeologic discoveries including the Fourth Church tower that is the only above-ground 17th-century structure still standing in Jamestown, and the Powhatan Nation that had used Jamestown Island as hunting land before the English settlers established their fort. NOTE: ALL PARTICIPANTS (OR THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN) ARE REQUIRED TO SIGN OUR HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
