    Perhaps you saw the movie when you were young. Maybe you even read the book as a teenager. Who is Thor Heyerdahl? By any path that you find yourself at this museum, you will find it hard to believe that someone could survive the Pacific in a handmade raft. Apparently everyone else (almost) didn't believe he could sail from Peru to the South Pacific. Kudos to Gerd Vold Hurum, an unheralded member of the team. Without her help and connections the trip would not have been possible.

    We came as we went to the Fram museum before and while there thought to go for another one so close. Too much for our children. They were done after the Fram. So think carefully if your kids are not patient if you want to do two museums in a row. Otherwise very interesting to see the boat itself. You can also watch the movie if you have enough time.

    A great museum with a fantastic presentation, also for children. The adventurous story of Thor and his colleagues is known worldwide, but in this museum it really comes to life. Worth a visit! The only downside was a guide who paid no attention to the fact that there were other guests in the museum. But the museum probably can't do anything about this.

    I'd heard about the Kon Tiki expedition in school (in the UK) and this was a real trip down memory lane for me! The exhibits are well translated into English so it's easy to understand and follow. There was a nice cafe in the museum too.
