This museum is a must if one is interested in Art and history. The building is beautiful inside. One would need a couple of hours as there are 2 sections. The café is worth reserving for as one is enjoying coffee or breakfast in a beautiful historic museum. Make sure you are early there ( especially if you have reserved at the restaurant) as there is a long queue usually.

It was a great experience, the only thing was that we stayed in line to get in just to find out that we needed to go back to a ticket box line to change our vouchers for tickets

This was the most beautiful museum i’ve ever seen. The biggest art collection i’ve ever seen and the museum just looks amazing. There’s a really good cafe where you can go. The outside of the museum is so impressive but as soon as you see the light, you are gonna be amazed. Loved it

The Kunsthistorisches is a world class Art History Museum at Maria-Theresien-Platz that is open from 10am to 6pm daily. Entry is now €21 per adult and can be purchased online in advance or at the ticket booths outside the museum. Historically, the museum was opened in 1891 featuring the centuries old collection of Hapsburg artwork, sculptures and antiquity. We have enjoyed a handful of visits over the years and usually allocate a minimum of 3-4 hours to leisurely explore the sections of the museum we most enjoy including the mechanical treasures (Kunstkammer) and the famous Pieter Bruegel Room in the Old Masters Picture Gallery. The Klimt decorated stairway is impressive and we always a rest break at the Museum Cafe in the Dome Hall for a cup of coffee and strudel. Art aficionados can easily spend a full day at the museum. Those with less time can do highlight style visits in 1-2 hours. Use the khm website to view collection highlights, exhibition, layout and other museum details to help maximise your time if this is the case.

The museum was great. The prepaid entrance ticket was a bother. We needed to stand in line outside to use the e-ticket to then get a paper ticket. The staff at museum were not helpful. The rest of the visit was excellent and definitely worth seeing

This museum is probably at the same level as the Louvre. We went around 3 PM and sadly, this is not enough time to see the whole place. It closes at 6 PM. However, we did see great works of Velazquez, Caravaggio, Bruegel the Elder, and Arcimboldo. The main reason why I wanted to go here was to see the 2 paintings from Animal Crossing specifically "Hunters in the Snow" by Pieter Bruegel and "Summer" by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. If you're really into art, I would spend at least 3-4 hours here because there is a lot to cover. If I get the chance to go back to Vienna, I'd definitely come back here.

The barcode on my phone was not accepted without visiting the admissions desk. Luckily it wasn't that busy. Otherwise I wouldn't have skipped the line.
