A great “find” after going over the river on the SkyRail to be able to see the river on its own level. Warren was knowledgeable of the river and the history, also pointing out wildlife along the way.
Also a very reasonable price!
Would recommend this to anyone looking for something to do when sight-seeing Kuranda.

Absolutely loved this cruise!
Warren was so knowledgeable and relaxed. It didn’t feel rehearsed and it felt like he really knew the area and is enjoying his job.
It was truely the highlight of our trip to Kuranda and for $25 pp totally reasonable.

We don’t usually write Customer Reviews but want to highly recommend you include a cruise on the Barron River with the Kuranda Riverboat as part of your experience visiting this amazing corner of our planet!
The cruise goes for 45 minutes and runs reliably on-time which means you will have no stress fitting it in your busy day in Kuranda, especially if you are pre-booked to return to Cairns on the afternoon train or Skyrail.
It is a close and easy walk from the Kuranda Railway station and Skyrail Terminal.
The tour is great value for money at $25 adults, $10 children (July 2023).
The boat and wharf have good mobility access for Seniors and children.
The Tour Guide Warren is extremely knowledgeable about the local natural history of the area and highly entertaining.
The Barron River is “still water” (during the dry season) and the boat is very safe on the calm waters above the weir.
There is a high chance you will see the abundant local wildlife. On our tour we got up close to freshwater crocodiles, turtles, fish, cheeky ducks and even caught a glimpse of an elusive Cassowary.
If you have more time to spare there a couple of other cruise options available including a Guided Rainforest Walk which takes an hour.
To avoid disappointment in busy Tourist periods it is recommended you pre-book via their website. There is also a QR code on the wharf and the on-line booking platform is professional and you receive an immediate notification of your cruise booking. No credit card payment facility on the boat.
Do yourself a favour and avoid the crowds in the tourist shops in the Main Street and head over to the other side of the Railway Station to enjoy this great experience!

One of the best things to do while in Kuranda. The cruise is relaxing and peaceful and so interesting. The Riverboat Skipper, Warren was a wealth of information about the rainforest and river. We saw crocodiles, turtles, fish and so many birds. I would say this is a "most do" experience when in Kuranda. So conveniently located just next to the Scenic Railway and Skyrail.
