Erin was extremely knowledgeable and made this the best tour we had in NOLA. She didn’t sugarcoat the black experience and history of the Treme neighborhood

Nika was a charismatic, funny font of information and an off the hook storyteller. From how Satchmo got his nickname to the origins of Treme, this conversation about music and Black New Orleans was the highlight of a very entertaining trip. Nika needs her own immense stage, for either stand up or a history channel. Thanks for making our New Orleans Saturday as informative as it was fun.

Where do I begin? Meet- up location and process was fine. Nika, our guide was EXCELLENT. Her knowledge of the history and culture of Treme made the tour a five star experience. You could tell she has done her research and her familiarity with Treme was evident. Her stories were mesmerizing. An extra added bonus was the related music Nika played during phases of the tour.

This is probably the most important tour you can do in New Orleans! Rich in history, the Black experience, and a culture that was visceral. As my first experience in the Big Easy, I went on several other tours and this one was my favorite. I can't say enough good things about our tour guide Erin - one of the smartest humans I've encountered, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what she does with a deep respect for the history she talks about. We didn't have any questions because she answered all of them. She also played carefully selected music, drumming, and MLK speeches along the way that made us feel transported and truly immersed in history and culture. I will be recommending this tour to anyone I know coming to visit New Orleans! Thank you Erin and French Quarter Phantoms!

This tour is a must if you are headed to New Orleans. Erin was fantastic in every way! Her knowledge and passion of the history and culture was incredible. The birth of jazz, the struggles people of color face, their journeys and what changed the shape of New Orleans. Erin is brilliant and should run the city❤️

Erin was an excellent tour guide. I especially enjoyed the information on how locals viewed the HBO show on New Orleans and the Mardi Gras Indians. Filled with valuable info.

We partook on our tour on April 7, 2024 with Erin. It is clear that Erin is passionate about this topic as she told us about her research methods of collaborating with local museums and community members to curate an entire website that is dedicated towards painstakingly documenting the history of an often overlooked, yet crucial part of New Orlean’s rich history. We were fascinated by how much information Erin was able to share within a short loop through the [somewhat ironically-named] Armstrong Park, up to Treme Community Center and to St. Augustine Church. In doing this tour we were taken out of the touristy downtown and offered a more authentic experience of the community and people that have and continue to shape New Orleans as the city we all know and love. Erin also finds an incredible balance in explaining the sobering and nuanced realities of slavery and systemic racism in New Orleans while also highlighting the victories won by people of color in this neighborhood and the greater impact they’ve had not only in Louisiana but also the US and the world. We are so grateful for this tour and hope to see Erin continue this mission of advocating for the remembrance of such a beautiful part of New Orleans.
