    I really loved this day trip to Dendera and Abydos. The two temples are quite different—Abydos was a sacred pilgrimage site from the Osiris myth dating from the New Egyptian kingdom and Dendera is dedicated to Hathor from Ptolemaic times. It is a long drive but more tourists should take a day and visit. The temples are much more complete and intact than those in Luxor, giving you a better sense of Ancient Egyptian society and religion. I also highly recommend working with Al Hassany; professional and responsive, easily the best travel agency I used in Egypt. It was so easy to change the date of my booking. Ghada was also a great tour guide if you’re lucky enough to get her! She is full of energy and conveys her deep passion and enthusiasm for the history and art.

    Our amazing guide was Abdullah Fouad and we had an amazing day. Abdullah was excellent his English and clarity were superb and his knowledge of Egypt first class. He knew when to give inforamation and when to allow free time. Abdullah was our guide on 3 tours. Two to the West Bank as well. Alhasnay Travel were also an excellent tour organiser.

    The trip was a fantastic opportunity to see not only the wonderful temples of Dendera and Abydos but a real chance to see the topography -fertile land and desert. Fabulous opportunity to see how village and town life differ and to experience the traffic chaos on the roads. Our excursion was organised through AlHassay Travel was well planned with comfort stops and an air conditioned coach, plenty of water included a brilliant driver and an excellent guide. Our guide Abdulla Fouad spoke perfect colloquial English so was easy to understand, and his knowledge and enthusiasm were boundless. He interpreted all the hieroglyphs with ease and made the story of the temples come to life. Everything was placed in historical context with clear explanations of facts. He listened and responded to our questions really attentively, was patient and had a wonderful sense of humour. The perfect guide in every way.
