What to expect

We will meet at the Principe Pio subway station. From there we will take a walk along the best part of Madrid Río, between Reina Victoria and Segovia bridges. We will watch with our binoculars the bird species that we find along the way, doing multiple stops to watch them carefully. Madrid Río is a linear park along Manzanares River on its way along the city center. This new space, where the river has recovered its natural course, has been rapidly colonized by the fauna associated with the riverside environments. In Madrid Rio you can find very common aquatic birds like Mallard, Common Moorhen, Great Cormorant, Grey Heron, White Wagtail as well as exotic species like the Egyptian Goose and the Ruddy Shelduck. We will pass by the entrance to Casa de Campo, the largest urban park in Madrid, so l we will have the chance to find forest birds like Iberian Green Woodpecker, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Common Chaffinch, Eurasian Nuthatch, or Short-toed Treecreeper. After 3 hours of activity, during which we can easily see more than 20 birds species, we will return to our starting point.
