What to expect
Ferme D'hougoumont
An explanation of the role of Hougoumont in Wellington’s defensive lines, as well as colourful descriptions of the troops occupying and attacking the fortified farmhouse, as the day progressed on the 18th of June, 1815.
The Lion's Mound, overlooking what once was a battlefield, commemorate the Allies' victory over Napoleon's imperial trips. The beast, placed on top of this 40 metres hill, seems to be roaring towards France still.
Plancenoit
La Bachée B&B, awarded 2 épis for its quality, is located in the picturesque village of Plancenoît, near the famous battlefield of Waterloo. This stunning farm, built in 1721 and typical of the Brabant architecture, is perfect to combine ecotourism and cultural visits
Napoleon's Last Headquarters
The Emperor ordered a halt at the Ferme du Caillou, which was to become Napoleon's Last Headquarters. The Emperor, surrounded by his General Staff, spent the night of 17 to 18 June 1815 there under the protection of the Imperial Guard. It was here that the battle plans were drawn up.
