Your Itinerary

Russian Bishop's House

Here the hike will discuss the imperial history of this land: your guide will discuss the Russian history of Sitka, as well as the Russian Orthodox Church, and the impact of Russian colonization on the Alaskan national forest.

Crescent Harbor

The first stop on the tour is in front of picturesque Crescent Harbor. The guide will explain the daily workings of a fishing town in Alaska from the personal perspective of a commercial and charter fisherman.

Sitka

We will see and discuss the Tlingit Totem Pole on Sitka's Seawalk. Before we reach the trailhead, the hike parallels the main street Lincoln St.

Tongass National Forest

Your guide will bring you into the Tongass National Forest. Your small group will spend 90 minutes hiking. The base trail is gravel and fairly flat. There is an option to follow the boardwalk into the muskeg (swamplands), or a more rigorous route that climbs up into the mountains.

Swan Lake

On the hike's return to town we will pass picturesque Swan Lake: built by the Russians to supply ice to their colonies in California.

Sitka

(Pass by)

Depending on your group's desires we can end the tour either at the cruise shuttle pick-up site OR at the main gathering of local food trucks.

This is a short, easy walk through the Tongass National Forest. Our tour guide, Marshall gave us lots of info on the Sitka area, forest and fauna of the Tongass forest and provided water and snacks.

Great hike - amazing foliage. Chris was our guide and he was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a mix up with the time. Our ticket said 2PM but they thought it was 11 and called us to ask where we were. They honored our time and we got a private hike.

Excellent easy hike. About 3 miles round-trip. I have a very bad back and this did not hurt it at all. Chris the guide was very patient, friendly and knowledgeable.

Jordan was a very knowledgeable tour guide and very patient. The trail has crushed gravel and was slightly easy to walk for this inexperienced walker.

Our guide was very welcoming and experienced! Nice mild physical activity to get your circulation going. Just do not expect to see any animals/wildlife (in case you are a great animal lover - choose other sightseeing).
