Every October/November, the Sri Mariamman Temple is host to Theemithi, a fire walking ceremony, which is a part of a very important festival held at the temple. This spectacle draws people from all over the city who marvel at the abilities of the participants.
The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum houses many sacred relics of the Buddhist faith and promotes Buddhism through awareness and appreciation of arts and culture.
The Singapore City Gallery aims to showcase Singapore’s physical transformation in the last 40 years to become one of the most liveable cities in Asia.
Thian Hock Keng Temple
Thian Hock Keng Temple is an architectural masterpiece of stone, tiles and wood, dragons and phoenixes, amazing carvings, intricate sculptures and imposing columns.
Hong Lim Park
Hong Lim Park is the only green space in Chinatown and was donated by a local business man, Cheang Hong Lim in 1885, whom the park was named after.
Sir Stamford Raffles is known as the 'Father of Singapore' and it is said that where this statue is placed, marks the landing spot where he arrived in 1819.
Cavenagh Bridge is the only suspension bridge in Singapore and links the civil district with the commercial district of the city. It was opened in 1870, making it also one of the oldest bridges in the city.
Merlion Park is a very popular tourist attraction in Singapore so expect this area to be very busy. The park has two sculptures of merlions which are mythical creatures with the head of a lion and the body of a fish.
