What to expect
Castello Sforzesco
Games, trivia, treasures hunt and multimedia tools will make this 2.5-hour walking tour a very interesting and amusing experience. Your children wil play and learn a lot thanks to our top-rated guide who will fascinate them with lots of stories and anecdotes about Visconti and Sforza families that built this Castle and made it one of most rich and impressive european court.
Castello Sforzesco
You will see the castle defences: the ravelins (protective fortifications built in front of the gates), the remains of a great wall called "Ghirlanda", and the two moats of the castle: the original moat that defended the city walls when the Visconti Castle was under construction and the one dividing the Courtyard of Arms from the Ducal Courtyard and the Rocchetta, now referred to as the dead moat.
Castello Sforzesco
You will visit the Ducal Courtyard, with its Elefant Portico, the Rocchetta Courtyard, a fortress within the fortress, the Spanish Hospital, used as infirmary for soldiers during the spanish domination. The hospital and adjacent pharmacy were in use until at least the 18th century.
La Sala delle Asse
You will visit the Sforza rooms: the Sala delle Asse decorated by Leonardo with a network of tree branches and foliage, the Room of Ducal Heraldry with its blue vault decorated with the Galezzo Sforza's coats of arms; the Ducal Chapel, the Treasure Room, and the Rooms Echelons with its red and white zigzag decorations. And then you can admire the unaccomplished Michelangelo’s Pietà.
Parco Sempione
You will walk along the largest green area of the city centre, Parco Sempione, towards the Arch of Peace where you will finish your visit.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
