    We gleefully booked this tour because we had such a great experience with it in 2019. This tour is still good, and in my opinion better than Williamsburg because there are not 20 other tours at the same time. However, the yorktown tour route changed since 2019. Being on street with the traffic made it less pleasant. Also, the 2019 tour went into the cemetery…and that was hands down one of the creepiest things I have ever experienced….and sadly that has been omitted. This tour is still good and fun, just not as good as it once was.

    We were lost and Nate, our guide, sent us a text and came to the rescue! On the tour, he was knowledgeable and was great at spinning the tales! We’ll definitely return and bring friends! (And I don’t mean return as a ghost….or do I!)

    After doing numerous ghost tours in Williamsburg, by this company and others, we decided to switch it up this year and go to Yorktown. Our experience began with the tour operator not being in the location we were told to go and then making the three different groups of families feel like we were all in the wrong place. The tour operator was not a story-teller at all. She would reference "when I do this tour with kids ..." and how she would try to scare them. Did she think we just came for the history? We wanted to be scared, too! She would reference a story, but not provide the background/build up to make it the least bit interesting. At one point, she talked about googling a story. Well, the scary ghost story part wasn't working so maybe we just need to focus on the history aspect, right ... wrong! I'm an American history teacher and she said several things that were not historically accurate, including Civil War "tanks" and Washington and Cornwallis together at the surrender. It actually became comical during the tour and our group of 13 ended up having more fun creating our own stories and picking up historical mistakes ... but we could have done that without paying the fee for someone who clearly is not suited for the position. Oh and one final note, during the first part of the tour, she was on her phone quite a bit (texting/walking and then talking while she sent everyone off to look at the cave). All we could deduce is she was asking for whatever information she needed/training on the spot. After recommending we do this excursion to the other family that was with us, I was embarrassed that I cost them this money.

    Thought this would be a good way to kick off Halloween weekend. First and foremost, this tour company is locally owned and operated. Our guide, Woody, did an excellent job at storytelling and entertaining us. Glad we went as it was different to walk around Yorktown at night. Will be booking the other tours they offer in the future.

    My husband and I really enjoyed the Yorktown Hallowed Ground Candlelight Walking Tour. Our guide Woody was very knowledgeable about the area's history as well as making the evening very entertaining. I would suggest that anyone visiting the area take the tour.
