1900 Athenian House

It's only 4 stars in name. We decided to treat ourselves to a deluxe suite. The room is beautiful, spacious, and the sofa is comfortable. Unfortunately, the noise from the cafe across the street (singing and shouting until 1:30 a.m.) prompted us to request another room with a courtyard view. We were kindly offered one, specifying that it was smaller and that breakfast would be included as compensation. We accepted. The new room was tiny, but we could sleep. Note that there was no reception desk per se. The housekeepers acted as intermediaries, translating via Google Translate. Although friendly, they didn't speak English. Sometimes in the morning, a friendly young man who spoke English was present. We, who had paid the price and thought we would enjoy our room, found ourselves stepping on each other's toes, not knowing where to put our belongings. A slight challenge to the couple's privacy: the toilet door was half-transparent and wouldn't close. In short, we won't be back.

Very clean hotle with good location. Good breakfast and good staff. Arsanious was very supportive and kind.

The front rooms are a disaster — there’s a very loud bar directly opposite, so it’s impossible to sleep with the window open. The air conditioning is fixed at 24°C, so it can’t actually cool the room, and there are no fans provided. Half the plugs don't work. There’s no real reception — keys are just left out for check-in, and there’s nobody on duty. The so-called “24/7 emergency number” is completely unreliable. When I called several times to ask for help with the heat or for a fan, the man on the phone repeatedly hung up on me and refused to offer any solution. I asked multiple times to speak to his manager, but he refused, and later claimed he had passed on my number to a manager who never called me back. The room also smelled of smoke, wasn’t particularly clean, and overall felt cheap for what’s sold as a 4-star hotel. It’s expensive for the area, and the only thing “4-star” about it seems to be the kettle and a few random bathroom items. Really long walk from any public transport also. Dodgy drug deals going on outside the hotel when I was collecting my takeaway dinner also. Housekeeping were up and in the corridor outside the rooms at 0645 to ensure a prompt wake up in the morning. Would not recommend. Really bad experience.
