acom Hotel Berlin Kurfürstendamm

Stayed for 3 nights and 4 days from March 10th to 13th. I read the website that said to notify the hotel if I wanted to check in after 10pm and called in advance. I arrived around 11:30pm and checked in with the person I called. When he asked me to show my passport, I said 'I would show my ID card (resident card) since I live in Germany', but the refused to check in because I had to show my passport. After some arguing, when he asked where my nationality is, I said South Korea, and he said it wasn’t even part of the Schengen Agreement. Clearly, Germany and Korea are Schengen Agreement signatory countries. But he didn’t listen to me. Eventually, I showed him my resident card, and only then did he say, “Oh, you have a resident card. This ID card is fine. I thought you have an Korean ID card'. I was so frustrated at the staff’s attitude of giving me inaccurate information and making a careless judgment based on my appearance and trying to send me out late at night. However at that night I was really tired so I just say 'I almost fainted out'. But I feel compelled to write this review to inform of some misinformation and attitudes. Apart from this, the hotel's location was excellent, the bed was a double bed as ordered, and the room was clean. Additionally the room only had indirect lighting, so if you prefer bright lighting, you might feel a little stuffy.

The reviews were very bad, so even though I made a reservation, I was nervous until it arrived💦 Other reviews have said that the room is dirty and has a strange smell, but that was not the case at all in my room. Maybe it was renovated? That's how beautiful it is. The walls are high and there is a feeling of openness, and although I booked a small room, it is compact and tall, and you can even fit large suitcases. Our room was on the second floor, facing the main street, and although we could hear the sirens of ambulances and other vehicles, we could hardly hear any other car sounds.It was well soundproofed. Over the weekend, I woke up several times in the middle of the night because there were drunk people making a lot of noise outside. There was no bathtub, only a shower, but the movable shower had very hot water (it was hard to get it just right) with decent water pressure, and the shower was a small space, but if you took a shower with the shower curtain tightly closed, it was comfortable and the bathroom floor didn't get wet. The oil heater keeps you warm even in cold weather.It's cold outside so the room is hot. I turned off the heating. The bed was clean and I had a good night's sleep on the hard mat. It has a very nice atmosphere from the entrance. The location is great ❗There is a convenience store next door, Karlstadt Department Store is right next door, there is a department store basement where you can change things, drug stores such as DM and ROSSMAN are also nearby, there are many restaurants, the bus stop is right in front of you, and the subway is very close, so it is very convenient. If you go to the nearby ZOO station, you'll find Starbucks, Mac, BIO Super, and a convenience store that also sells rice balls. You can use WIFI for free in your room, and there is also a small hair dryer. Since it's Europe, the outlet is type C. The only downside is that the entrance has stairs (pictured) and is full of stairs and steps. A heavy suitcase can be quite inconvenient. If you have a small suitcase, you won't have any problems. Perhaps because it is an eco-hotel, there are no refrigerators or safes in the rooms. They didn't have a pot and tea set, so I read the reviews and brought one from Japan. Of course, there are no amenities such as shampoo, toothbrushes, slippers, etc., so you will need to bring your own. There is only liquid soap for hand washing and body washing. I often buy yogurt and salads, so not having a refrigerator is a pain, but other than that I'm living comfortably. The room key is not a card, but an old-fashioned gacha gacha. There is a pouch in the room that can be double locked for safety, but it seems like you have to insert the key and turn it twice. When I checked in and tried to enter, the lock wouldn't open ❗, but I was able to open it by turning it twice in the same direction (you'll hear a click when you turn it around).

Very good service and location, but room renovation is needed asap.
