We booked directly after inquiring and received a response. It seemed cheaper than booking through booking.com. Our expectation and wish was for a large, quiet double room on the top floor... but we got room 223, on the second floor facing the street, which was very noisy and tiny. The refrigerator ran constantly, even at night right next to the bed, which was very loud and disruptive. The room was very poorly soundproofed. The bathroom light was broken, and the toilet flushed continuously. Check-in was okay, but the staff was rather unfriendly and inattentive. The much-praised rooftop terrace was unfinished and rather dirty, and with morning sun, the sunset wasn't visible because the sun disappears around the building. At check-in, we were told that breakfast would be served upstairs upon request, and that drinks could also be ordered there. It wasn't open yet, despite the very good weather, and that this wouldn't be a problem... but in reality, it was. There was no service; we had to do everything ourselves and argue about the bar's opening hours, which didn't start until 10 minutes later. The Aperol Spritz for €18.00 was more like a glass with ice cubes and a bit of orange. The price was outrageous... the room was clean, but had a very strong smell of chemicals and cleaning products. The hotel's location was very central. The booked airport shuttle, for an extra €150.00, was very good and highly recommended if you're arriving late in the evening. Overall, far too expensive at €300.00 per night for the room we received. Breakfast was okay; everything was available. Extras like omelets or salmon were available for an additional charge, otherwise there was a lot of cooked vegetables for breakfast, which wasn't relevant for us. Cappuccino and espresso were served to order; otherwise, coffee was from a large thermos, so not very Italian. We wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't book it again.

I went years ago and the superior room was bigger. Then the hotel closed and moved to a building with spacious rooms and a beautiful view. However, there was no breakfast, only a very weak continental breakfast. They reopened the hotel a year ago after 6 years of renovations. I expected more after so many years closed. Excellent location, very good breakfast, but the rooms are small and without a view. Although the rooms are clean and the staff attentive. Good value for money.
