AHORN Panorama Hotel Oberhof

Ya'll were ok till our last evening. When I reached out prior to booking; ya'll stated parking garagen ist opfen. Bus ran to city square so we didnt have to walk in the snow. When we arrived... complete opposite. Bus stopped running, your staff did not know which timetable to give us so we waited twice for a bus that would never come outside the hotel. Parking we ended up getting for free, BUT that was so far due to your incompotent bar/restaurant staff treating us like garbage and not knowing what they were doing the last night we were there. They treated us horrible, told us we could not sit and order drinks at the bar while watching bundesliga cause we already ate. Did not know how to sit people waiting, told us we had to leave withinan hour when eating. Bar manager told us we had to go to the other bar that did not have skygo to watch the match.... yup. That was awful and disgusting. We will be reimbursed 300 euros for our last night there as I have reached out to their director. Avoid this hotel if able. Breakfast was the only delight. They advertise a bowling alley for example yet dont have one. Kino was closed. List a sauna but there isn't one? Crapshoot and not worth it. Stay at a mom and pop hotel that is actually personable.

It's okay, the parking lot is in the middle of the woods and yet you still have to pay extra. The price-performance ratio isn't good.

A piece of history! Anyone who stays in this historic building can feel it. I stayed at the Panorama for a short two-night break because I wanted to experience it for myself. So far, so good! The check-in was friendly and quick, however, communication was very difficult as the ladies at reception only spoke broken German. In addition, there was a parking fee of €14 per day, which had to be paid on site (more on that later). I had booked a standard double room for single occupancy. The room was functionally furnished, but unfortunately, it looked a bit worn. The beds were rather soft; the pillows, in particular, were much too soft for me, which unfortunately led to neck pain. Besides a sink and toilet, the bathroom offers a shower and a retractable clothesline. The television is a bit old, but adequate. Unfortunately, the two dinners were a major disappointment! The food isn't inherently bad, but it consists largely of frozen and convenience products (for example, the fish roulades, which were truly unappetizing). Personal taste aside, it must be said that both evenings simply lacked soul and a cohesive concept. The buffet seemed somewhat haphazard, which is not exemplary for a 3-star-plus hotel. Unfortunately, the staffing situation also needs addressing: on both evenings, it took 30 minutes from ordering to serving drinks. The prices, however, are at the upper end for restaurants of this quality. Due to time constraints, I skipped the à la carte restaurant, although it looked promising. Breakfast, on the other hand, was mostly satisfactory. Regarding the parking: The hotel's location is breathtaking – beautiful scenery and correspondingly cold winter temperatures (-13°C last night). What really annoys me, however, are the high parking fees combined with a completely unplowed parking lot. It's understandable that they can't clear everything, especially when the lot is full. But anyone who can't even be bothered to spread grit is recklessly accepting the risk of accidents. (It hadn't snowed today or yesterday.) This has nothing to do with excessive demands, but is a matter of responsibility. In conclusion: The place has an incredibly interesting history, and one can be happy that the panorama will continue to exist. However, the overall high prices are not justified by what is on offer.
