A complete disaster! Two stars: First, for the genuinely decent buffets (morning/evening), which also cater to vegans, children's tastes, and people with allergies. And second, for the friendly staff. BUT: The first annoyance came on the day of arrival (between Christmas and New Year's). I checked in online, but the machine only dispensed room keys, no further information such as the Wi-Fi password, meal times, a map, activities, etc. Nothing! So I had to join the long queue of everyone else who didn't want to check in online to ask for the documents. Annoying! Then, in the room, a huge disappointment at how incredibly small the bathroom is: When the shower door is closed, you practically can't reach the sink. And the shower itself is so cramped that you can't even shower your child – quite annoying when you've booked a "family room," which in our case also smelled of the previous guest's aftershave. The ventilation ran constantly in one bathroom, and not at all in the other. Our complaints (spoken to reception and then emailed the following day) were ignored. The room was covered in thick dust, and the toilets in the swimming pool and restaurant were repeatedly filthy – worse than any water park. Upon departure, we were asked if we had enjoyed our stay – as if we had never raised our concerns. Shortly afterward, the hotel manager came, apologized eloquently and profusely, and promised compensation – which we've now been waiting for for almost four weeks. No punchline here, just the realization that the Ahorn Seehotel in Templin doesn't seem to care much about its guests feeling comfortable, let alone wanting to return.

I stayed there over Christmas 2025 with a tour group. The room was adequate, but the bathroom and shower were borderline unacceptable! It was very small, and I kept bumping into the shower walls while showering, and the faucet was always in the way. There were also frequent floods, so it was unavoidable to lay out the bath towels after showering to absorb the water. The large step from the bathroom to the room was also rather inconvenient. The food/buffet was excellent! The only downside was the rush to get to the buffet! There were also occasional minor arguments with other guests because the main courses were served in sections, meaning you had to queue in a circle since there was no beginning or end to the line, and you were often accused of cutting in line. The service and staff were superb! Many young people with immigrant backgrounds were there, and all were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very family-friendly. There were many families with multiple generations staying there, and dogs are allowed. The surrounding area is stunning. The tour operator included a city tour, a large tour of the Uckermark region, a guided tour of the building facades, and a horse-drawn carriage ride. I learned a lot about Templin and the surrounding area. The Christmas program was very appealing and charming, featuring live Christmas carols. I had a personal wish to see an unrenovated room with GDR-era amenities. Unfortunately, this was not possible. Despite a few minor criticisms, I would definitely recommend this trip; it was a wonderful few days!
