ALAM INDAH

One of my top four accommodations in Indonesia – and I've stayed at 15 in total! I stayed at Alam Indah in Ubud at the beginning and end of my trip and immediately felt at home. Such a warm and welcoming team! Everyone is like family, always friendly and attentive. Architecturally, this small complex is a gem – a master gardener must have been at work! You feel like you're in the middle of the jungle at all times – yet the fence to Ubud's famous "Monkey Forest" is only 10 meters away. While they always remind you not to leave anything on the terrace because of the monkeys, the team reliably keeps an eye on things to ensure the monkeys don't "invade" the garden, so you don't have to worry about being disturbed while eating or anything like that. The food is fantastic, always plentiful, and the breakfast and fruit juices are especially recommended! As is typical in Indonesia, you should expect to find small animals in your room (geckos, frogs, etc.). But geckos bring good luck, so be happy if you spot any on the wall :) By the way, there's a free shuttle service to the center – but you can also walk along the Monkey Forest; it only takes 15-20 minutes. The massage at Alam Shanti is highly recommended (with Ayu)! Many thanks to everyone at Alam Indah for this wonderful time!

We had an exceptional stay - really, it deserves 6 stars! The accommodation is located in a beautiful tropical garden right next to the Monkey Forest. Ubud's center, with its many shops, attractions, cafes, and restaurants, is just a short walk away. There are also very good restaurants and lovely shops in the up-and-coming neighborhood where the accommodation is located. The staff at Alam Indah are incredibly friendly and helpful. They attend to your every need without being intrusive. I even received flowers and a cake for my birthday, everything was wonderful :-) They also allowed us a late check-out on our departure - a million thanks again for everything, dear team!! The rooms are beautiful and spacious, everything is very clean! The beds are very comfortable, and there are plenty of places to put things or hang clothes. From our huge balcony, we had a wonderful view of the beautiful garden. In the evenings, we sat there and listened to the cicadas and frogs. Even at breakfast (varied and delicious!), you sit on the terrace, practically in the middle of the garden, and enjoy the nature. The hotel pool is also nestled in the tropical landscape, so we felt like we were swimming in the middle of nature. We occasionally spotted monkeys, but they never became a nuisance, thanks to the hotel staff. We really enjoyed returning to this beautiful oasis of peace in the evening after our days full of activities in bustling Ubud. Thank you, it was the perfect end to our vacation :-)
