Albir Garden Resort & Aquapark

This is our second time returning to Albir Garden Resort its such a lovely family hotel. Rooms are cosy and clean. Night time entertainment is great, special mention to Manel who is excellent at his job, he's great with the children, and entertaining, we always enjoy the Bingo. Will definitely return.

The rooms are good. The beds and shower were especially great. The only downside is the food in the restaurant for dinner. The only dinner that was great was on New Year's Eve. Otherwise, we often opted for a restaurant nearby. The entertainment is excellent.

So this was a last minute booking with almost 50% off. We had a great week away and the hotel is in a great spot for us. Close to the tram stop, 10 mins walk to the beach in a good area of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is generally very clean, rooms are a good size and the grounds well kept. 1 star off.. ...Unfortunately the hotel is chronically understaffed and service levels because of this are really poor. There is no table service on drinks, sometimes 20 mins plus queue at the bar and tables left filthy because the staff dont have time to tidy up. This is not a staff issue, this is a management issue- the staff should be paid double as theyre doing the work of 2 people! One barman, one receptionist and 2 staff on in the restaurant is simply not enough for a 300+ room hotel. 2nd star off....The food is, at best, mediocre on more than one occasion there was only one meat on the buffet, I dont mind fish but options would be good. The food is always tepid and again due to understaffing tables are not always cleared..more of a canteen than a restaurant. 3rd star off.... the indoor pool and sauna is very very dated, tiny changing rooms, a "steam" room that was tepid and smelled really bad and a small, dated sauna. Theres also some strange All Inclusive policies - no bottled water until after 10pm and bottles of wine available in the restaurant but not the bar (seems like it would reduce the bar queues if you take more than a glass?) The bar queues were causing some people to get "agitated" and I feel sorry for the staff having to deal with this kind of behaviour, again this a management issue - maybe concierge/security around the hotel maybe an idea??? I know budget are tight but cutting everything, especially staff to the bone does not improve anyones experience. If its cheap cheap book this hotel, if not there are many many many better options close by. 3 stars / 3-Ts (booked with Tui) is a real stretch.
