The rooms are dusty, the staff will leave you to your own devices, the location is ideal, but if you don't want to ruin your sleep, plan another place to sleep. Newly accommodated people were stomping all night above our heads and through the weak windows you could hear every word from the local drunks, not to mention the cars. Save your money and look for a place to get QUALITY sleep somewhere else.

Very clean rooms and ensuites, brilliant location for transport and quiet at night. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin so earplugs are essential. I'm not a light sleeper but was awoken by my neighbours (above, below or next door's) shower, packing, phonecalls and staff listening to the radio while cleaning other rooms. Also the cleaning staff will clean your room every day, there is no warning about this and nothing to hang on the door to stop this happening, a little disconcerting. Service brusque on phone but there is someone available at the desk at all times and faciliated late check in.

We recently stayed at Alexandra Hotel for one night while travelling down from the north for a concert. Overall, our experience was mostly positive, but one issue unfortunately affected what should have been a great stay. The location was ideal for the event we attended, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. The room size was good, as was the bathroom. We stayed in one of the basement rooms. It was comfortable overall, although it did get quite warm during the night and the fan didn’t seem to work. This wasn’t a major issue for us, but it could be uncomfortable for others. We also noticed some noise from neighbouring rooms overnight, which woke us up a few times. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of options in a buffet style. Everything was well stocked and we had no issues at all there. The main problem happened in the evening. The receptionist who started his shift at 6pm on the 17th of February told us that the main door would be locked at midnight “for protection” and that if we were not back by then, we would not be allowed inside. He was a young guy on his 20s. This came as a shock, as this was not mentioned anywhere on the website or at check-in. At first we thought he was joking, but he was serious and communicated it in a rather rude manner. Since we had travelled a long distance specifically for the concert, this meant we had to leave the celebration early and rush back to the hotel to avoid being locked out. It really took away from what should have been a special night. The next morning at checkout, we asked another member of staff (an older gentleman with glasses) about this policy, and he told us this was not true and that he would speak to the evening receptionist. This made the situation even more frustrating, as it suggests we were given incorrect information. In summary, the room, breakfast and location were good, but the way this situation was handled significantly impacted our experience. We hope management can clarify their policies and ensure staff communicate clearly and respectfully with guests in the future.
