Allurity Hotel Tasmania

We arrived at the hotel after 22:00 on the day of check-in. I did receive an email from the hotel earlier that day mentioning that 22:00 was the last check-in time, but unfortunately I was on a flight and therefore unable to reply. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception desk was closed. There was a notice with a phone number for late check-in assistance, but we called the number twice and nobody answered. There was also a service phone inside the hotel, but it appeared not to be working at all. We had absolutely no way to contact the hotel. Eventually, another couple from Japan managed to reach the hotel staff through Booking.com. What made the situation even worse was the attitude of the staff member when we finally reached them. They did not seem concerned at all that the phone numbers provided by the hotel were not working. Instead, they repeatedly demanded that we provide our credit card number, expiration date, and security code immediately over the phone. Giving such sensitive financial information in a public area poses an obvious security risk. I politely asked if I could provide the credit card in person at the reception the following morning, but the request was refused. As a result, I was forced to disclose all my credit card details in the hotel lobby, which made me extremely uncomfortable. Secondly, I had booked a double bed room, but when we entered the room it was set up as a family room with three beds. As a couple, we clearly did not need three beds. The extra beds took up the space where a sofa should have been, which made the room layout inconvenient and uncomfortable. Thirdly, the bathroom did not even have a proper place to put shampoo or body wash. It appeared that the holder might have been broken. If that is the case, it should have been repaired before the room was assigned to guests. Furthermore, the overall condition of the hotel facilities felt very old and poorly maintained. The chair in the room was unstable and wobbly. During our stay, there was no housekeeping service at all, and we were not sure whether this was forgotten or simply not provided. In terms of service, the reception seemed to be staffed only briefly in the morning, and at all other times it appeared to be completely unattended. Unfortunately, this has been the worst hotel experience I have had in Australia.

I accidentally booked a room on Booking.com for the wrong date. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told there was no reservation for that night, so I booked another room directly at the hotel for $250. Since I still stayed at the same hotel and paid for another room, I politely asked if it would be possible to refund the unused reservation made on Booking. My request was refused twice, without any explanation. I understand mistakes happen, but refusing any solution or even a proper response after I still chose to stay and spend money at the hotel shows very poor customer service.
