Ana y Jose Hotel & Spa Tulum

Although we know that the hotel management is expressing their regret and promising improvement in an "AI-generated" letter in response to our criticism, nothing will change! The ostentatious friendliness is merely feigned; "Money, money..." is the main theme. The Hotel "Ana y José" is "sandwiched" between the sea and the road, on a busy and extremely dangerous hotel strip, about 8 kilometers outside of Talum. According to "Booking.com," room rates at this hotel range from €400/600 upwards per night! This price range alone is a benchmark for our assessment of the value for money. In short: This is not true at all! In addition, the hotel invents imaginary taxes and fees that no one understands and can easily add €100/200 per room for 5 days. This opaque monetary policy culminates in the included breakfast, where fantasy prices of up to €100 per breakfast are charged for cheap coffee, fruit, and eggs, depending on your choice. This amount is then reduced to zero (since it's included), but a 15/18/20% tip is expected on this fantasy price. Incomprehensible, not permitted under Mexican law, but practiced and apparently accepted by the primarily young US guests. So, in addition to these "high room rates," you're also expected to pay the staff, similar to a cruise ship. Furthermore, the "Charming Sea View" room we booked was a mere 13 m², totally neglected (see photos), and a "dark cave." The Garden View room, which was given as a replacement on the second floor, was new and 60 m², but the air conditioning motors, car noise, and 24-hour music meant you could only sleep with the window closed. The loungers on the beach are covered in unhygienic plastic, extremely dirty, and—because of the plastic—unbearably hot. The beach is full of huge mounds of seaweed with high waves. Swimming is impossible for five days!!! Summary: If you end a lovely Mexican vacation with the expected beach feeling at the Hotel "Ana y José," frustration and disappointment are guaranteed. Moreover, after five days, you'll be about €3,000 poorer for an average room and a poor breakfast. We're sorry for this harsh criticism, but the "Ana y José" isn't worth two stars, and we can't understand the effusive, praising reviews from other guests at all.

One of the best places to eat on the beach in Tulum. High quality food. Very good price And the best part was the service, William and Rolando took care of us extremely well, they are super professional and do their work with great joy and professionalism. I am dedicated to the hospitality industry in Spain and I was able to observe great amounts of professionalism in both of them.
