To start with the good, the location is perfect. It’s very close to most attractions in Condesa so our ventures out to eat and shop were effortless. I also liked the rooftop restaurant and the coffee bar on the second floor. They were convenient for a quick meal. All staff were lovely and service was quick. I didn’t love our room. I understand that we were in an architecturally-significant building but nothing highlighted this fact. The interior decor seemed cold and stale. The addition of a low-market vinyl record player didn’t help the issue. You wouldn’t be able to tell that we were in Mexico City. I’ve stayed in boutique hotels before that were much more thoughtfully decorated. Adding to that, the layout was odd and the sink fixture was impractical as was the lack of privacy between the bedroom and the bathroom. Unfortunately, the stay was also coloured by the fact that, from my understanding, I had paid for early check-in at 9 AM. A few days before we arrived, the hotel reached out to let me know that they only had double queen rooms available for early check-in, which I didn’t have a problem with. Despite all of this, our flight arrived at 7 AM but we waited until the afternoon for a room. It was fairly rough to get off a long flight and then languish on a chair for hours. We were told that they had 100% occupancy and were prioritizing our check-in but, despite seeing several groups of people checking out over the following hours, they didn’t have a room available for us until 2 PM. I was mortified to have fallen asleep in the lobby while waiting. Instead of being able to have a quick nap before beginning our adventure in Mexico City, our first day was a complete wash. If I’d known that the early check-in wasn’t a commitment on their part, I would have booked a room for the night before to make sure we’d have a seamless transition. I think this is more of an issue with their booking system rather than their staff but, in any case, I didn’t expect it to take so long to clean a room after a guest’s departure. Given all the factors above, I hesitate to recommend this hotel. I’ve been to many of supposedly the same caliber and find Andaz quite lacking. At the same time, I do think the staff were excellent and, like I said, recommend that you drop in to the coffee bar and restaurant.

This hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location. A part from the delightful stay overall, I would like to shout out their fantastic staff and the staff of the Mondarían. Due to altitude sickness, my husband caught everyone off guard and fainted in the lobby. Bruno, Jibron, and the other names I couldn’t catch, jumped into help us immediately. Truly thankful for everyone. Would recommend this place to anyone.
