Aparthotel Adagio Koln City

The hallways are very smelly, the room is nice and well-furnished, but unfortunately, it's not very clean. Overall, it's ok if you find a full-price deal, but unfortunately, not.

Spectacular

We were able to access our room about half an hour later than planned, as it still needed cleaning. This isn't usually a big deal; these things happen. However, upon entering the room, we were shocked: it was filthy. The floor was completely dirty, there was still a lot of hair in the bed, the bathroom was dirty and obviously hadn't been properly cleaned, the toilet was uncleaned, and the kettle was completely covered in limescale. It was absolutely unacceptable. Extra blankets and pillows were crammed into the closets so tightly that they wouldn't even close properly. We went straight to reception to complain. The gentleman at reception was very friendly, responded immediately, and was visibly annoyed by the state of the room himself. He immediately informed his colleague. She initially seemed very unimpressed and unfriendly, as if she wasn't taking our complaint seriously. Only when she came into the room with us did she realize for herself that the condition was completely unacceptable. We then left the room again. We wanted to return the kettle to reception to get a new one. The cleaning lady took it from us and said she would get us a replacement. Because of this whole situation, we arrived at our room much too late and had significantly less time to get ready, even though we had to leave the hotel again at 6:00 PM for a concert. After the second cleaning, it was somewhat better, but still nowhere near worth the price. The rooms are generally very run-down and outdated. The dishes in the kitchen were filthy, and the dish sponge was extremely disgusting and unusable. It was so unhygienic that you wouldn't want to use anything. When we returned in the evening, we discovered that we still didn't have a kettle. The lady on the night shift at reception, however, was very kind, showed great understanding for the situation, and immediately got us a very clean kettle; it even seemed as if she had cleaned it especially for us. A big thank you for that. We thought things couldn't get any worse, but unfortunately, they did. The next morning, we went to get a cup of coffee from the coffee machine. We noticed that the cups provided were extremely dirty. I took them out one by one to find a clean one. Almost every cup still had noticeable coffee residue in it. At that moment, the server approached me and asked if everything was alright. I said no and calmly explained that it had nothing to do with her personally, but that everything in the hotel was simply very dirty. I showed her the cups. Her response was that it was the dishwasher's fault, but that it was clean. The question is: Why put dirty cups back in the dishwasher instead of running them through it again? My companion asked her if she would drink from such a cup herself. The server then asked us what we were even doing there if everything was so dirty and went to reception to complain about us. At reception, we met the woman on the morning shift. She was completely unfazed and explained that guests had brought in dirty cups the day before. Honestly, I felt like I was in kindergarten. Don't I have the right to at least expect a clean coffee cup? The woman was polite, but absolutely unempathetic and in no way customer-oriented. In short: It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I never actually wanted to write this review, as the gentleman in the afternoon and the lady on the night shift were incredibly kind, helpful, and understanding—that's what I call customer service; they are truly the heart and soul of this hotel. Unfortunately, the behavior of the server in the morning and the lady at reception has led me to write this review. We have never been treated so badly in any hotel in the world.
