The hotel has a fantastic location, just 20 meters from the beach. The indoor pool is a real highlight, especially in winter. There's almost always an interesting show in the evenings. The hotel is clean and modern, perfect for a family. 👍 You can also rent a car very cheaply.

Stay away from this hotel! We stayed in a Deluxe Penthouse Suite (2 adults, 2 children) which had a pervasive sewage/drainage smell. Cleanliness and hygiene are unfortunately nonexistent throughout the entire hotel. Hair from the previous guest, a dirty mirror, and generally filthy surfaces were left untouched. The risk is, of course, especially high at the buffet, where many people gather and hygiene isn't maintained. After I got food poisoning (presumably from spoiled cheese), we cut our vacation short after two days. The reception staff seemed overwhelmed and didn't handle criticism very professionally. It was always "some colleague" who hadn't done something or hadn't written it down, etc.

This was our second stay at the hotel since 2022, and probably our last. Let's start from the beginning: We arrived on December 26th in the afternoon. The reception staff didn't even ask how our journey was or wish us a Merry Christmas. Nothing about them seemed friendly at all; they were just going through the motions, quickly collecting the tourist tax, handing us our room key without any explanation, and that was it! The penthouse on the 6th floor is nicely furnished, although the bathroom doors squeak (oil might help). Again, there was no decoration or even a Christmas greeting for the children—nothing, nada, niente. No welcome card, etc. Restaurant: The restaurant is the hotel's biggest weakness. Friendliness? Non-existent! The staff work in slow motion, like they're on autopilot, clearing tables completely haphazardly. They don't clear the tables where guests are sitting, but rather the tables where guests have left their dishes because their own tables haven't been cleared. Christmas decorations? Non-existent. Nothing doing! An old tree with a few baubles in one corner and three wooden reindeer at the buffet—that was it. The only decorations on the tables were the placemats and the salt and pepper shakers. The highlight was New Year's Eve. The buffet, for a mere 80 euros, consisted almost entirely of seafood and a suckling pig. We ended up eating nuggets and pasta. Bon appétit! I dared to ask for the tomato and mozzarella salad, which was advertised, at 7:45 p.m. The answer: "It's all gone." Bon appétit! Things got even worse around 8:25 p.m. when the chef had already doused the griddle with a 10-liter bucket of water and started cleaning! By the way, there was some decoration on New Year's Eve: red paper napkins on turquoise placemats! Truly hideous! The only bright spot that evening was the dessert buffet. The New Year's Eve party was a "show," and afterward, a DJ (we called him Karl Heinz, who looked about 75) played his CD collection! We skipped the ice buckets (blue plastic ones) and drove to Palma. On New Year's Day, I gave the staff another chance, but unfortunately, it was in vain. I, as a guest, had to wish the restaurant manager a happy new year before he even asked for my room number. Even at check-out, there were no requests or inquiries about how our vacation was; they just quickly paid the drinks bill. In short: If you're looking for friendly staff and warmth, this is the place for you... or is it the staff? Happy New Year to the entire team at Fontanellas Playa... not!
