My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of staying with Gekkoen during our honeymoon this year. The staff were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful during our visit, making our visit to Arima feel that much more special. Our Japanese is not very strong but they were incredibly patient and considerate to us, making our stay very relaxed and enjoyable. The special private baths are extraordinary and I cannot recommend them enough, especially the wine bath. If you have the opportunity to visit Arima, definitely consider Gekkoen.

Visited on a day trip♪ ・[Seasonal Box Meal + Bath] ¥6,600/person The shopping district around Arima Onsen is quite crowded with tourists, and it seems to be returning to its pre-COVID-19 bustle. While I'm happy, I also feel a little sad, as I've been able to leisurely explore Arima Onsen since the pandemic began. This was my first visit to Gekkoen Korokan. The interior feels a little old, and I enjoy the Showa-era atmosphere. I had lunch at Gekkoen Korokan's Kappo restaurant, Yumiharizuki. The box meal was delicious, and I had a relaxing time. The baths were the open-air bath and large communal bath, and the men's bath was Kinnami no Yu. Even though it was a holiday, there were fewer people than I expected, so I was able to relax and enjoy the view of nature. I also enjoyed the hot springs at the sister hotel, Yugetsu Sanso, but I think this might be a matter of personal preference. The changing room had a very old feel to it, the open-air bath was quite slimy, and there were bugs floating in the tub, so I personally felt like it wasn't the kind of place you'd want to relax in. However, it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood, reminding me of what hot springs used to be like.
