The hotel is clean and caters well to young travelers. However, the room was cold due to a draft coming from the window, and the outside noise was constant as it is located right next to a tunnel. Public transportation access to the city center is also a bit inconvenient. What I really couldn't understand was the housekeeping service. Even though I put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, they knocked every day. If I didn't answer because I couldn't hear them, they would just try to open the door and enter. What is the point of a 'Do Not Disturb' sign if you are going to disturb the guest anyway?

I’ve been an Arlo Hotel loyalist for years. Arlo has always been a 10/10 for me, especially as a solo traveler. Unfortunately, the experience I had at Arlo SoHo on January 11 around 5:30am completely undermined that trust. The hotel itself was fine, but the front desk experience was not. A staff member was wearing a keffiyeh while on duty. This is a hate speech and anti Semitic symbol , and for many guests, including myself, it represents something deeply offensive and exclusionary.( Literally means the ban of my existence)! Arlo positions itself as a welcoming, inclusive, international brand. Displaying political symbols at the front desk does the opposite. Hotels should be neutral spaces where guests from all backgrounds feel comfortable and respected. Allowing visible political statements by staff shows poor judgment from management and wildly offensive! This was disappointing and frankly disrespectful. I never expected this from Arlo!

Hotel Restaurant and Bar are fantastic and nice after a busy day. Convenient to many areas. Room is small, to be expected. And noise from the Hudson tunnel is constant, also to be expected. Major disappointment with the room was the lack of maintenance - which included a lot of obvious wear and tear, and the clear tooth paste splatters from the previous guest on the hairdryer bag. Otherwise, the balcony was an incredible feature and the room meet our basic needs.
