If you value your safety, your time, and respect for your reservation — avoid this hotel. My experience at Atar Hotel Istanbul was extremely negative and honestly very concerning. I travel frequently and I have never experienced something like this before. I arrived around 2:00 am to check in to a room that I had already reserved and confirmed. The receptionist, who said his name was Mustafa, told me that my room “had no electricity” and asked for my documents. After that, he made me wait on the side without giving me any clear explanation or solution. While I was waiting, another guest arrived and he checked her in immediately, even though she was having an issue with her credit card. At that moment it became obvious that there was no real “electricity problem” with rooms. I had been traveling for many hours, I was exhausted, alone, and my flight was at 8:00 am that same morning. The receptionist’s attitude was rude and dismissive, repeatedly telling me to just wait on the couch without giving any clear information. After wasting a significant amount of my time in the middle of the night, he told me they would send me to another hotel. This situation made me feel very unsafe, especially as a woman traveling alone at 2:00 am in a city I do not know. Eventually they took me to another hotel — not even the one they originally mentioned. When I arrived there, the receptionist told me that my room at Atar Hotel had been resold to another guest. The most unacceptable part is that later the hotel reported to Booking that I was a “no-show”, which is completely false. I was physically at the reception trying to check in and was denied the room I had reserved. Not only did they waste my time and energy during an already exhausting trip, but they also tried to shift the blame onto me for a situation they created. I felt mistreated, misled, and very unsafe during this experience. I would strongly advise travelers to think twice before booking here.
